Prize ceremony of the contest Statistics, Open Data and Society

On December 13th the prize ceremony of the contest Statistics, Open Data and Society was held in Milan. Twenty-one products were submitted - mostly from young researchers or students - on a variety of topics ranging from urban traffic to city immigration to poverty among youngsters. The prize ceremony was held at the Civic Aquarium in Milan with the participation of the town Councillor for Labor, Economic Development, University and Research, Cristina Tajani and the President of the Italian Statistical Society Nicola Torelli.
Synergia sponsored with a prize of 1000,00 € the best product in the category Best product for social policy won by Federica Roccisano with the product Urban Poverty and Deprivation: a Focus on Youth Condition in Milan. Here above the awarding moment with Giovanni Viganò (Synergia) and the town Councillor Cristina Tajani giving the prize to Federica Roccisano.
The contest was launched by the Department of Statistical Sciences of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, together with the municipality of Milan, with the aim of making citizens more aware of the importance of statistics and the use of Open Data for a better society.
